Return of the Whales Celebration

The Return of the Whales is a reinvention of the traditional Blessing of the Fleet event held in past years. It includes an afternoon of fun for the community on board the Whale Watching vessels in Urangan Harbour, providing the opportunity to learn more about the best whale watching fleet in Australia at Hervey Bay and our unique natural environment.

The Hervey Bay Whale Festival

The Hervey Bay Whale Festival will be 12 hours of non-stop celebration of the humpback whales and our unique natural environment. The Hervey Bay Whle Festival is a dynamic celebration of coastal lifestyles showcasing the unbreakable links between humans and the natural environment. The iconic Hervey Bay Whale Festival will undergo some major changes in 2010 to refocus on it's conservation messages that will aim to unite the Fraser Coast community to protect a species in the midst of a global whale war. The event will highlight the importance of conserving this much celebrated species for future generations and showcase a community that is making a difference.

World's Greatest Pub Fest

It's still the world record-breaking and greatest Pub Crawl you will ever experience - a quirky take on the Aussie tradition around Maryborough's heritage hotels. The World's Greatest Pub Fest honours a quintessential Australian tradition and Maryborough has set the bar for the good old fashioned hotel hop. The event honours the Australian hotel culture and the time honoured pub fest tradition. Fancy dressed event-goers walk or bus between local venues (many including historic Queenslander Pubs) to join in the Guinness World Record for the Most Participants in a Pub Crawl. The event celebrates the Aussie tradition of mateship and reunions, of catching up with friends and relatives and highlights Maryborough’s outstanding heritage architecture and welcoming hospitality.

Mary Poppins mania hits Maryborough, Queensland each July as the city celebrates in outlandish style its magnificent heritage and its unique connection to the world's most famous nanny. The festival is the only event of its kind in the world, and is in honour of Mary Poppins author Pamela Lyndon Travers, who was born above a bank building in Maryborough in 1899.
